Hello! My name is Heather Schlabach. I have two incredible brothers - Landon and Reece Schlabach. One is two years older and the other is two years younger. In June of 2020 we got to talking on our parents back porch one Sunday evening. The discussion revolved around unique short-term rentals and how much we all loved the idea of these projects. Landon and I run a short term rental company called BNBbreeze. He had been pushing investors to consider these unique stays for some time but, although many expressed interest, no one actually committed. So after a short discussion, we all decided we loved and believed in the idea so much, we would just build one ourselves!
I grabbed a pen and paper and started sketching out our own shipping container dreams. After some realistic budget discussions, we came up with The Green Creek Shipyard Container 1 - a single 40 foot renovated container with a 23 foot deck and 12 foot partially covered cement patio. The building process was long and hard! It involved lots of debates, plenty of compromise, and tons of team work. Fortunately, each sibling brings something different to the table. Reece is our outdoors guy. he handles all of our grading, landscaping, and hands on work. I am the designer. I created the look of the interior and handled many of the custom build projects. Fun fact - I built the barn doors in Container 1 myself (don't judge them too hard!). Landon is our dreamer and entrepreneur. He handled all of the scheduling for the build as well as the management of the container as a rental. He also started the discussion that got this whole thing rolling! It's the perfect sibling team. We each contributed to the process and put a lot of energy and time into making this dream come true!
As soon as we had Container 1 up and running, we were blown away by the how much guests loved it! We immediately began making plans for Container 2.0. We applied all we learned from the first build and found the process went much smoother the second time around! We learned from our mistakes and although the first container will always hold a special place in our hearts, we are just as happy with the finished product of container 2.0!
